Eleanor C. Barton, CID

“Every space has a story to be told and celebrated and used to its full potential. It is my goal to turn that space into a memorable place that welcomes people and allows them to be part of something bigger and a active participant in the story.”

Coming from a large creative family with a hereditary bent for life-long learning and living abroad in exciting places like England, Australia & Japan fueled Eleanor’s passion for creating interior spaces that draws on all these experiences. Prior to her interior design career, she worked in retail management, accounting and with her family’s residential design-build business. Wanting to complete a long term personal goal, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004 and returned enthusiastically to the Interior Design Department to share her business knowledge teaching Ethics and Business Course for the past 10 years.

Eleanor’s background of growing a successful interior design team and designing for a Richmond based architecture firm with a diverse portfolio shows a range of capabilities and willingness to accommodate her clients. The core of her award-winning spaces celebrate the best in hospitality, higher education, cultural and residential. She is an active member of the American Society of Interior Designers and continues to enjoy her artistic family who fuel her design inspiration and she always has a plan arranged for her next travel destination.

Though I have experience in a wide variety of interior design spaces, the common interior design goals for each of my projects is that they celebrate the unique brand of each client; it is paramount that the design is functional, practical and aesthetically pleasing; and most importantly, the projects must be brought on schedule and within the budget. I have never lost sight that the successes of each of these projects are grounded in a highly collaborative team effort based collectively on what we agree the client experience should be. Let the design process begin!
